QV sg196 1s dull green block – signed and dated by Archibald Sutherland

Description

John Scott Smith, was the Sheriff Clerk until he died 13 Dec 1886. Archibald Sutherland (1856-1930) of Papil, Shetland Islands, was the Sheriff depute, and was interim sheriff until formally made Sheriff in 1887. By 1903 he was a Clerk of the Peace, Sheriff Clerk, and County Clerk & Treasurer, on the Shetland Isles.
