Description
Air Post Exhibition (APEX) London 10th May (4th day) 1934 postcard
Representing the fourth day of the Exhibition is aspecial postcard commemorating the Pigeon Post. Apart from the pre-printed commemorative label, it bears postage stamps cancelled by the special winged cds, two adhesive Exhibition labels and an APEX cachet. It has travelled from London to Karachi via Imperial Airways (with all the connections implied thereby), then by sea to either Brisbane or Darwin, and finally by internal flight to Melbourne where receiving marks indicate an arrival on 10th July 1934. Having unsuccessfully awaited collection at Melbourne, it has been marked with an “Unclaimed at Melbourne” cachet, plus a “finger” cachet drawing attention to the “if undelivered” instruction, and then returned to Mr Orchard at Freshwater Bay, Isle of Wight.
